Just a thought……
This topic is open to Realtors or buyers who may have an opinion on this. Please feel free to jump in with your comments.
As a Realtor here in San Diego I work with both Buyers and Sellers. When working with buyers in today’s market ,there are many many more homes to view and pre-view than we have had in a long time. Along with this comes the areas that need to be covered as well. From Oceanside to Otay Ranch there are a lot of nice properties to see and Buyers have a tendency to want to see them ALL.. As many of you are aware the cost of owing a car, the price of gas and maintence has gotten pretty costly. As I write this the gas station near myoffice is selling REGULAR GRADE at $3.75 per gallon. Let’s say my car gets 20mpg. It doesn’t take long to run up a pretty big gas bill.
The inherent problem here is. What, if any guarantee do I have that my Buyer is actually going to BUY ?? And would it be fair to ask that they compensate me in the event they don’t ??
I know what the Realtors will say, “don’t put anyone in your car w/out a buyer-broker agreement etc.etc…That’s all good and well and I could pose that as an entirely seperate topic.
I am ONLY posing this as a question since I have co-workers who do this on a fairly regular basis.
As for you Buyers. Do you feel an obligation or sorry for your Realtor who drives all over town showing property and may never get compensated for it ?
Is it simply “OUR JOB” ?? or Should we strike a deal up front of, If you purchase and CLOSE a transaction we are all square. If you don’t purchase within ???? period of time you will pay my gas costs ??
What are your thoughts ???
Thanks, Kevin
